P2P-PVID-Kalashnikov
Manufacture, Adoption & Use of Kalashnikov Rifles for Political Violence Data (1947-present)
The P2P-Kalashnikov-PVID consists of three separate data subsets covering the period 1947 (the year the AK-47 was “invented” by Mikhail Kalashnikov and first manufactured by the Soviet Union) through the present day.
- The first data subset consists of the locations and founding dates of factories that manufactured Kalashnikof rifles and variants (as defined below) during this period.
- The second data subset lists the countries whose militaries have used the Kalashnikov and variants as a primary weapon at some point during this period.
- The third data subset is a chronology of conflicts where Kalashnikof and variants were a primary weapon for one or more conflict combatants.
